Sara Bolghiran (BA, MSc, MA) is pursuing a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies, researching the global rise of Muslim Futurism and its manifestations within the diasporic and revert communities in the Netherlands. She pays particular attention to the development of personal spiritual devotion through aesthetic means and is therefore mainly interested in the ways in which Islam is explored non-dogmatically. Through this, she aims to understand how Muslims seek (and have always sought) divine knowledge (ilm) of and about their faith. Her current Ph.D. includes a Visiting Assistant in a Research position at Yale University's department of Religious Studies. Next to this, she is also a Working Group Member for Race, Migration, and Coloniality in Europe at Yale University's Center for the Study of Race, Indigenity, and Transnational Migration. She is also part of the G20 Interfaith Forum's Working Group on Religion and Gender.
