Network of researchers, postdocs and students

On the origins of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity, Scholten says: "We started in 2019 because we saw the need for multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research. In recent years, the centre has hosted an impressive eight professors in history, urban studies, public administration, economics, humanitarian studies and media across all three universities. '

'We are proud of our robust network of affiliated researchers, young postdocs and students within our Governance of Migration and Diversity Masters programme - where the centre originated. We see these double appointments as the next step in our growth.'

Migration in the past and future

Prof Wim van den Doel, dean of Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities on the social importance and unique approach of this centre: 'Migration and diversity are very topical issues and pre-eminently topics that need to be considered in the unity of different disciplines. Thus, current events also require a contemplative view. What do we learn from past times?'

What will be important migration flows in the future is best analysed as a team.'

'But also what will be important migration flows in the future, how this changes cities, societies and economies and the effectiveness of policy measures are best analysed as a team. I am therefore very pleased with the double appointments of these four professors from the LDE Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity.'
