On Friday, the 26th of August, the 2021-2022 Master cohort congregated at the EUR campus to graduate and celebrate their achievements this year. Unlike the last two years, families and friends were able to attend the special event and celebrate their loved ones' milestones. Those that could not join in person were able to follow the day's events online.
'Congratulations'
All those in attendance could not deny the challenges that the last year had posed on the students. From a very optimistic start to lockdowns in the Fall, to digital learning and a constantly changing educational landscape, the 2021-2022 cohort faced nothing less than a sequence of obstacles.
In spite of this, the students came out victorious! Through a number of laudatios presented to students by their supervisors, we got to hear how students beat the odds to turn in exceptional theses that critically assessed various aspects of the governance of migration and diversity. During the same ceremony, the second LDE GMD fellow, Tom Freijsen (PA), was announced.
The graduates were awarded their diplomas, an LDE Certificate that confirms that they have successfully completed all the joint courses, an Erasmus statue, and a bar of chocolate. The ceremony lasted a little under two hours but celebrations continued in the foyer, where snacks and drinks were provided.
Congratulations once again to a resilient, dedicated, and committed 2021-2022 Master LDE GMD cohort!
